In Malaysia there are 2,200 new cases of renal kidney failure per year. Forty percent of those diagnosed are not treated because there are insufficient dialysis centers catering for the poor and needy in our country.
Since 2001, the Foundation has set up four dialysis centres (in Kampar, Banting, Setapak, and Kuala Lumpur) catering for the low income. The patients are heavily subsidized by the Foundation for their treatment.
Each centre cost about RM700,000 to set up and RM400,000 per year to operate.
